New Club, New Website!

I am impressed!!! It really doesn’t get any better than this! The Cassville Lions Club who had their charter on August 14th 2009 has already created a website. They certainly didn’t waste any time getting their message out there. What a great way to kick off their club’s PR campaign. The club president did say that it was still under construction, but they are off to a great start. If you would like to visit their new website, just go to the following URL: http://cassvillelions.com/index.htm.

Website Challenge – Ready, Set, Go!!!

I would like to challenge each club in this district to create a website. In fact, this challenge is supported whole-heartedly by our own District Governor Charlie; and he’s going to present a Special Governor’s Recognition Award to the first five (5) clubs that submit their completed website’s URL to the district webmaster (that would be me - Just click the following link http://www.molionsm6.org/contactus.html & select “Webmaster” to send me an E-Mail).

There is no reason why we can’t make a model of our district for the rest of the state. We could be the FIRST district to have 100% of our clubs with websites! I would love to brag about that, wouldn’t you?

I know, I know, you don’t think you have the ability to create a website. You are saying “But, I’m not a programmer, and we don’t have anyone in our club that is a programmer.” Not to fear! As you may know from recent articles that appeared in the Lion Magazine, there is a new tool from Lions Club International that lets you create a website quickly and easily. It’s called “e-Clubhouse”. You can create a professional looking website in just a few hours. I promise! Just go to the following link: http://lionwap.org/eclub/ and get started!

This is far better than the old Lion WAP. If you remember that feature from years ago, you’ll know what I’m talking about. And, a bonus feature: they market your website to the search engines so you don’t have to do it. You can sign up for a new website by clicking on the New Users link and filling out the online application.

Here are some websites from clubs that are already using the new feature:

Get a Website for Your Club!

Most people don't really know how easy it is to get a website for their club. What's even more unfortunate is that a club won't investigate how to get a website because they are afraid it is too hard, or they don't know who to ask to manage it, or that it will cost too much, or that it will take too much time to set up. As Dale Carnegie said, "Do the thing you fear to do and keep on doing it... that is the quickest and surest way ever yet discovered to conquer fear."

Just think of the benefits to your club’s public relations efforts. Creating a club website is an excellent way to let people in your hometown and all around the world know about your club. Before beginning, take a look at the District's website and what the clubs in our district are doing. Once you have done that, take a look at the template created for District M6 at http://template.molionsM6.org (please contact me - District M6 Webmaster - for the User ID and Password from the Contact Us Page).

You might also visit LionNet, which promotes the use of the Internet by Lions clubs. LionNet provides helpful tips and templates for creating club websites. This service is provided free-of-charge to all Lions clubs.

I can provide you assistance at the District level to help you get up and running. I can be available for questions; provide you with web addresses for free tools and instruction; and give you tips and tricks that a beginner would not know.
